Regional SAR

Solely IUCN Vulnerable listed species are presently eligible. The Regional threshold for these birds is static and standardized: Passeriformes (e.g. perching/songbirds) = 90 individuals (or 30 pairs); non-Passeriformes = 30 individuals (or 10 pairs).

Sub-regional/National SAR

The sub-regional/national SAR population threshold = 1% of the COSEWIC population estimate within the region (provinces/territories) the species is listed as being at risk. This threshold is used to identify trigger species and IBAs under criterion C1.
